Location & Directions
Del Pacifico at Esterillos is located in Esterillos Este, 30 minutes south of the popular resort town Jaco (pronounced hah-koh) on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
There are direct flights from more than 10 North American airports to SJO, plus connecting flights from every major airport. Airports with direct flights are Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Orlando & Toronto. There is also a direct flight from Madrid, Spain as well as several destinations in Latin America.
Some of the major airlines that fly into SJO are Delta, American, US Air, United, Continental, Taca, JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier & Avianca.
After flying into San Jose Airport (SJO) it is a quick and easy 90 minute drive on the new toll road. We can arrange to have a driver meet you at the airport and once you are at Del Pacifico, have a rental car delivered to you. We are located on the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, midway between Jaco Beach & Manuel Antonio National Park and just over 30 minutes from the Quepos Regional Airport.
Flying from San Jose: From San Jose, you can take a short 20 minute flight to Quepos followed by an easy 30 minute drive to Del Pacifico at Esterillos. Or, you can take advantage of the new highway and take the picturesque 90 minute drive from San Jose (or the scenic 2 and a half hour drive).
Private Airport Transfer: We can arrange for a private driver to be waiting for you at the airport to assist you and take you to Del Pacifico. Drivers can also be arranged for the duration of your stay- you would pay a daily rate, which includes fuel & tolls and leave the worry of navigation in their hands.
Car Rental: There are several options for car rentals in Costa Rica. You can pick up a rental car at the airport or we can arrange to have one delivered to you at Del Pacifico. We recommend you make these arrangements ahead of time.
The drive from the San Jose (SJO) airport (Juan Santamaria International Airport) to Del Pacifico will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes and is fully paved with the new highway in place. We suggest exchanging at least $5 US dollars into Costa Rican colons for the tolls on the highway. Ask the rental car agency to send you off in the right direction, which should be west on Route 1, past the airport. Drive defensively and be aware when two lanes become one, "CEDA" means "Yield".
Note: The first 13 km uses the same "old" route to the coast. GPS devices might not be updated and will likely still have the "old" route so do not rely on them to follow the complete recommended route.
The Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, home of Del Pacifico at Esterillos, is in the coastal province of Puntarenas. Our region is home to two National Parks, two marinas, world class surf and countless other attractions while maintaining a feeling of privacy.
The Central Pacific Coast is already recognized as an international recreation destination and hosts the World Billfishing Championships annually. In 2009, it was the site of the ISA Billabong World Surfing Championship which attracted over 125,000 visitors.
